MAY MARKETS WRAP-UP
At our May markets we welcomed fly fisher John Tuckwell who demonstrated fly tying techniques at the markets. John has over 40 years’ experience as a fly tyer and fly fisher and demonstrated a range of techniques as well as tying flies which can be used in the Oberon area. He learnt to tie flies when living in London and is a longstanding member of the UK’s Fly Dressers Guild. He continues to tie flies regularly and finds the gentle art of fly tying most engaging, especially when accompanied with a glass of his favourite tipple. John now lives in Braidwood and normally fishes in Lake Eucumbene in the Snowy mountains and prefers to tie flies which imitate the natural insects. He was also Chair of the Diplomatic Fishing Tournament for nearly 20 years until he retired.
In addition, our regular stallholders were selling local beef, lamb and duck, seasonal fruit and vegetables, bread and honey, wines and port, Greek sweets and chocolate, jams and preserves, salami and olive oil, homemade cakes and pies.
